VTEC stands for Varible Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. The VTEC system uses two camshaft profiles and hydraulically selects between profiles. The VTEC system provides the engine with multiple cam lobe profiles optimized for both low and high RPM operations.

Ok you have a 1997 Honda Del Sol si it has the d16y8 motor in it so its supposed to have v tec but the funny thiong is that v tec is not kicking in could some one tell you what you could check?

V-tec is a model of engine like a northstar, or hemi there is no way to check and see if your "hemi" is kicking in it is an 85 hp v-tech dont expect too much punch
