Im not sure, I have the same problem on my 96 rodeo 4 cyl 2.6L I did some research and I've found that it could by my flywheel i don't believe it was replaced when they changed my clutch but I cant say for sure I just bought it like that
try checking the lifter(s)
The knocking noise on a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo could be bad connecting rods. Listen to the knocking, if it get progressively worst at high speeds than the rods may be bad. To be sure check the oil pan for any shards of steel.
Check the serpentine belt. If it's loose it will make a terrible noise.
If the noise is coming from where the water pump is, it is a good chance the it is actually the timing belt tensioner. These things are notorious for making awful noises when they are beginning to go out and will get worse and worse. The same engines are in an Isuzu Rodeo with the exact same problem.
Clutch throw out bearing bad.
the water pump is driven by the timing belt so the pulley your talking about is not for the H20 pump but only for the fan
In an Isuzu Rodeo, the firewall is located at the front of the vehicle, separating the engine compartment from the passenger cabin. It is a vertical barrier made of metal that helps protect occupants from heat and noise, as well as providing structural integrity. The firewall typically houses various components, such as the brake master cylinder and wiring harnesses.
The most likely problem is the blower motor making the noise. It may be necessary to remove the box to find the noise for sure.
hey man i got a 2000 mercury cougar v6 it is makeing a tapping noise under my manifold, and i dont know what that could be. but it sounds like you might be haveing the same problem im haveing. suggestion: try checking where that tapping noise was again, it might be under your manifold!.
If it's knocking it's probably a rod going out - if it's ticking it could just be the valves - Rodeos are notorious for value noise...
Check ABS system.
When does it make a tapping noise? When your !) braking and turning wheel B) braking c) engine idling D) starting engine E) turning. I mean it just all depends....
