It is real easy. It took me about 45 minutes to replace the starter on a 1990 Maxima GXE.Disconect the negative battery cable on the battery. Put emergency brake on and put car in park.Jack the driver side of the car up and secure with a jack stand or use car ramps.Loosen the shrowd underneeth the front of the car (3or 4 screws)so you can get to the starterLocate starter and disconect the solinoid wire from the positive battery cable.disconect the 2 bolts holding the starter in place.Remove starter.Inspect the teeth on the starter for wear.Inspect the teeth on the flywheel for wear.Install the new replacement starter and secure with the 2 bolts.Connect the solinoin wire to the positive battery cable.Attach the negative battery cable to the battery.That's it.
