Change the oil and filter, add 4 quarts and the start the engine. Run for a few minutes. Stop the engine, wait 10 minutes and check the level. You will then see if it is full, 1/2 or 1 qt low. Top it off. Now you know the capacity. Of course you could just open and read your owner's manual. Per the Haynes manual it is 4.1 quarts. On my 1995 Altima i usually put 3.5 qts in and then check the level.
