Must be replaced every 90,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first. Warning: This is an interference engine.
Factory recommended replacement mileage is: 105,000 miles.
It has a timing BELT - recommended replacement mileage is 105,000 miles. CAUTION: This engine is an "interference" engine. If the belt fails while the engine is running it will cause major damage to the engine.
timing CHAINAdded: Check the above answer out carefully - I have an '04 and my engine has a timing BELT. Recommended replacement mileage for the belt is 90,000 miles.
The current factory recommended replacement mileage is 105,000 miles.
For the 6-cylinder engine my owner's manual says 90,000 miles.
Belt. Recommended replacement mileage: 90,000 miles. Do yorself a favor and replace the water pump at the same time.
The Solara 4 cylinder engine from 2002 on uses a timing chain, not a belt. There is no replacement schedule for the chain. It's (theoretically) good for the life of the engine. From 1999-2001 the 4 cylinder used a belt. I haven't been able to find the factory recommended replacement interval for that engine but 60,000 miles is a fairly universally accepted mark. Replacement for the 6 cylinder belt is scheduled at 90,000 miles. Cheers
Yes. The six-cylinder engine uses a belt to run the camshafts. Replacement is recommended at 90,000 miles or ten years whichever comes first.
Change it at 90,000 miles.
There is no recommended replacement interval given for the chain replacement timing belts are critical, chains are not.
Car makers do recommend replacing the timing belt according to mileage in order to help prevent it breaking, which will cause major problems with your vehicle. Honda recommends replacement somewhere between 60,000 and 105,000 miles depending on the size of the engine. You should have it checked regularly even before reaching the mileage.
