What is wrong with your 98 Subaru outback when you shut the vehicle off and the tail lights and the front side lights stay on the headlight switch still turns the headlights on and off?

Check to make sure you didn't bump the switch on the top of the steering column (directly behind the steering wheel) that turns the parking lights on permanently.

Was this the final answer? Do not bump the switch in the steering column?
