If the pump was extremely low of fluid you may need to bleed the air from it after adding fluid. To do this, start the engine and turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then back all the way to the left about five or six times. This will remove any trapped air from the system. If the pump is still making a noise it more than likely needs to be replaced.

What causes power steering pump to make noise on 94 Toyota Corolla?

If your power steering pump makes a whining noise as you turn your steering wheel your power steering fluid reservoir is probably empty. The noise is caused when your power steering pump tries to pump fluid that is not there. This indicates that you probably have a leak somewhere in your power steering fluid lines. You can either try to find the leak or simply replace the power steering fluid every so often.

Yes, low power steering fluid can cause noise in your vehicle. When the fluid level is low, the power steering pump may not be adequately lubricated, leading to increased friction and potential whirring or whining noises. Additionally, air can enter the system, causing further noise and reducing steering performance.
