There is a common problem with the Suzuki Samurai wiring in the starter circuit. Called the Clicky-Starter problem :-) it is easily corrected by installing a Clicky-Starter kit:-) which is nothing more than a relay, a circuit breaker, and wire connected through the relay directly to the starter. Inexpensive kits are available through eBay or any of the many Samurai parts sources, or you can easily make the corrections yourself with discreet components. I recommend you visit ZukiKrawlers.com for more detailed information!
I don't believer there is a starter relay. Instead the starter has an integrated solenoid -- it is part of the starter, sold as an assembly.
If it is like my '86 Samurai there is no starter relay. It uses a starter solenoid on the top of the starter to pass battery to starter motor when the solenoid is activated via the key switch.
It interrupts the starter circuit so the device does not start. It may be as simple as a relay that stops the solenoid from activating.
No, the starter relay and horn relay are not the same. The starter relay is responsible for activating the starter motor to crank the engine, while the horn relay controls the electrical circuit for the horn. Each relay serves a distinct function in the vehicle's electrical system, and they are typically located in different areas of the fuse box or relay panel.
To test the starter relay on a 1991 Toyota pickup, first, locate the relay in the fuse box. Use a multimeter to check for continuity by connecting the leads to the relay terminals while activating the ignition switch; you should hear a click if the relay is functioning properly. Additionally, you can bypass the relay by connecting the terminals directly to see if the starter engages, indicating a faulty relay if it does. If there's no continuity or the starter doesn't engage, the relay may need to be replaced.

The starter relay for a 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara is typically located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. You may also find it in the engine compartment fuse box, near the battery. It's advisable to consult the vehicle's owner's manual for specific locations and diagrams for your model.
