The plugs are located under the intake plenum. This is a real job because it takes removing several bolts, wires and gaskets to get to them.

Replacing spark plugs is pretty simple. Disconnect the battery, remove the cover and cables, remove the old spark plugs, put in the new spark plugs, put the cover and wires back on the spark plugs, and reconnect the battery.
THe spark plugs are buried! IT is one of the frustrating designs of this car! It takes a couple of hours for a trained mechanic to do the work and even longer for the untrained. If you have the work done, get the best, most expensive spark plugs to replace them with. I wnt 60K on my first set and am 30K into my second set.
Disconnect the battery cables, remove the spark plug cables and covers, and remove the old spark plugs. Next, put in the new spark plugs, attach the covers and spark plug cables and reconnect the battery cables.

The cost to change spark plugs on a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport typically ranges from $100 to $300, depending on labor rates and whether you choose to use OEM or aftermarket spark plugs. Labor can account for a significant portion of the cost, especially if the spark plugs are difficult to access. Additionally, if other maintenance or repairs are needed during the process, that could increase the total expense. Always check with a trusted mechanic for an accurate estimate.
You must remove the entire intake manifold for you to have access on the three spark plugs located underneath it. it is advisable that a qualified Mitsubishi technician should do this.
We have a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero (the people that brought your the fighter ZERO) and when it came time for a tune-up we couldn't get the plugs out. The car dealer here charged us over 500 dollars for a tune up and they had to remove the top part of the engine to reach the plugs, hence the large dollar value. We will NEVER own another Mitsubishi again! Good luck:)
THE INTAKE MANIFOLD MUST BE REMOVED. I WAS QUOTED > $600 TO CHANGE PLUGS. I SOLD MINE, AS IT WAS TIME FOR A TIMING BELT AS WELL. ANOTHER $600.
There are two MAP Sensors on the Mitsubishi Montero Limited. They are both located on the left side of the engine about six inches apart. Look for a plug with a wire attached that resembles a spark plug wire boot.
