The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve on most Optimas is screwed into the intake manifold. They are all steel construction and about 2" long. I got mine at AutoZone, part number PCV1171. When I called Kragen they asssured me that my car doesn't have one... they are wrong.
Remove the cover on the top of the engine. On the top middle there's a short hose that comes out of the intake and the pcv valve is at the end of it.
I have a 2002 optima 2.7L .My PVC was the reason the engine light was on . Replace is underneath the plastic cover on your engine only four screws to get there and is on the right hand side corner facing the front of the car , to chnage is very simple. after that disconnet the battery for 2 minutes ,this make the computer to be reset and you are ready to go . hope this help.

It depends on if it is a I4 or the V6. The inline 4 PVC valve is located on the side of the engine block, under the intake manifold. The V6 PVC valve in the valve cover of the cylinder bank next to the firewall. It is on the driver's side, near the throttle body. You can follow the rubber hose from the intake manifold down to the PVC valve. The Valve has a tab that locates it when it is screwed in/installed.
