On my dad's 2x4 we had to remove the alternator to get to it. Not sore if the 4x4x is the same but might be worth checking. The only way we could see it was from underneath but couldn't get to it without removing the alt. Drive components for the front wheels would probably block your view.

On the 1997 Nissan pickup its just above the oil filter, lower right of engine, access through right front wheelwell after removing wheel, it's a screw in affair.

if u have acarb. ,it should hook up to it,check your PVC valve and the line connected to it ,it may be clogged.
On a lot of these vehicles, the PVC valve is located on top of the valve cover, or a hose leading from the valve cover to the intake. You have to remove the right front wheel. It will be in the block. It is in an awkward place and Nissan charges about a 100.00 to install it. You can do it your self though.

To change PVC valve on a 1993 Nissan 300zx, first remove the oil dip stick and remove the tension clip from the PVC valve hose. Then remove the hose and the old PVC valve. Replace with a new PVC valve.
It should be right on the valve cover somewhere.
The PVC valve on a 2000 Maxima is located in the rear valve cover just behind the throttle body. REMOVAL # Grasp the PVC valve and pull it out of the valve cover
Look under the intake manifold about the same height as the alternator, some, if not all of these will screw in. You may need a universal for your socket set.
To replace the PVC valve on a 2005 Nissan Maxima, first, locate the valve on the engine, typically near the intake manifold. Disconnect any hoses attached to the valve and use a wrench to remove the old PVC valve. Install the new PVC valve by securing it in place and reattaching the hoses. Finally, check for any leaks and ensure everything is properly connected before starting the engine.
