On my old right hand drive Starlet [here in Thailand] it is down and to the right of the steering column, near the door column and hinges, and it is a small plastic flap which I pull up to release the main bonnet locking catch.
Once the bonnet pops up, sometimes needing a pull, there is another catch that is just to the right of the pin that goes into the frame. That needs to be lifted then the bonnet finally opens, there is a stay on the right to prop it open.
I guess on a left hand drive it may be on the left or the right. In the USA a 'bonnet' is called a 'hood', I think. I hope this helps somebody
Under the bonnet, to the right hand side of the inlet manifold
theres 1 under the bonnet and 1 under the steerin wheel :)

On a Toyota Hilux ute, the bonnet release lever is typically located inside the cabin, on the driver's side, near the footwell. It may be found near the door or under the dashboard. Pulling this lever will release the bonnet latch, allowing you to open the bonnet. Always ensure the vehicle is securely parked before attempting to open the bonnet.

The Toyota Starlet was sold from 1973 until 1999. The Starlet was available in Japan, Indonesia and some European countries but never in the United States.

What is the torque for 1994 toyota starlet 1300 cc cylinder head
the bonnet release lever on my 1991 205 is underneath the glovebox on the side by the door, and when the bonnet pops open, there is a small catch roughly in the centre, push it up (towards the bonnet) and pull the bonnet open.
