It is down low, but it is not readily accessible. The way I solved the problem was to take a good cleaner/ lubricant (WD40, etc), and hose down that whole area near the bottom of the door where the switch is. If you look hard enough, you will see the only spot it can be in. There should be an opeing that you can spray down with the stuff. This worked for me on my similar 98 Ranger, since they are of the same type.
