I'm replacing the number 4 ignition coil on my 2000 Maxima and am unsure where it is located. I know it's on the side closest to the radiator but leftmiddle or right when facing the engine.?

Indeed, cylinder #4 is located in the middle closest to the radiator when facing the engine, logically the coil is located in the same spot. You will have to remove the cover to have access to the coil, you should also replace all the spark plugs once your at it if you haven't done so. I don't know why Nissan doesn't recall this problem since it is very common an all V6 3000 engines, specially on the 2000 models. I had to replace cylinder coil #5 on my maxima.
