To remove the oil pan on a 2000 Kia Sportage, start by draining the engine oil and removing the oil filter. Next, support the engine with a jack and remove any components obstructing access to the oil pan, such as the exhaust or crossmember. Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pan, gently tap it to break the seal if necessary, and carefully lift it off, taking care not to damage the gasket surface. Finally, clean the mating surfaces and install a new gasket when reassembling.
