To replace the oil pump on a 2003 Toyota Echo, start by draining the engine oil and removing the oil pan, which may require unbolting the exhaust and other components. Next, disconnect the oil pump pickup tube and unbolt the oil pump from the engine block. After removing the old pump, install the new one, ensuring the gasket is properly aligned, then reattach the pickup tube and oil pan. Finally, refill the engine with oil and check for leaks before starting the engine.
