The VIN on a '70-73 240Z (US model) was located in four separate places. The format was "HLS30-00000". It was stamped into the firewall of the body itself near the wiper motor wiring, stamped on a data plate riveted to the driver's door jamb, On another data plate screwed to the passenger inner fender in the engine compartment, and on a plate riveted to the dash pad on the driver's side visible through the windshield.
The door jamb plate also has the production date, and the engine compartment plate also has the engine number.
