Daihatsu is made by Daihatsu. They have six factories. In fact, some Toyotas have actually been manufactured by Daihatsu. In 1999, Toyota gained a controlling, 51% interest in Daihatsu.

Datsun is a brand used by Nissan. Between 1983 and 1986, Nissan transitioned vehicles using the Datsun brand over to using the Nissan brand. In 2001, however, the Datsun brand was used to market one particular pick-up truck, the D22, which was called the Nissan Frontier in North America. In 2012, Nissan announced that they would use the Datsun brand again starting in 2014 to sell a new low-cost product line.
