It could be any of several reasons. In order of descending likelyhood they are: (1) bad bulb. (2) loose, dirty or corroded sockets. (3) blown fuse. (4) bad ground. (5) bad wiring.

Bad grounds are a common failure in cars that don't have voltage return wires (I don't know if the Toyota does or not) and that rely on the car body to provide the return circuit and they can be maddening to diagnose. They will often cause different behavior depending on which lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc are on.

Why do the reverse lights not work on a 1997 Toyota Tercel?

There is a switch called the reverse backup light switch attached to the shifter. When you move the shifter into reverse, the switch is closed and current goes back to the reverse lights. The switch is located on both auto and manual trans. After making sure your bulbs are good, that is where I would look. And make sure your fuses are not blown as well in your fuse block. There usually is not just a circuit dedicated to reverse lights only but there is always something a manufacturer will do some years just to be different.

How do you turn off the check engine light on a 1999 Toyota Camry?

To turn off the check engine light on a 1999 Toyota Camry you can disconnect the battery. This will only reset the check engine light. So if there is a persistant problem with the engine, the light is likely going to stay on. To turn off the check engine light on a 1999 Toyota Camry you can disconnect the battery. Does new shape corsa 2007 only have 1 reverse light?

Yes, the new shape Corsa (2007 model) typically comes with only one reverse light. This design choice is common in many vehicles, where a single reverse light is used instead of two. However, it's always a good idea to check the specific vehicle specifications or consult the owner's manual for confirmation, as variations may exist.
