Mine doesn't (actually I have an '04) but if yours does you should consider it a potentially very dangerous condition and have it checked out by a trusted mechanic or your Toyota dealer immediately. Any problem with the engine control system or its sensors should be throwing a code (your 'check engine light will be on) which you can easily read. Many auto supply stores will loan you an OBD II code reader that simply plugs in under your dash (to the right of the steering column) and tells you exactly what the problem is. Cheers
