Perhaps it ran away from home because it didn't like the way you spoke to it? Sorry...couldn't resist. First check your sparkplugs (a good Haynes manual for your model is a worthwhile investment) for their condition and to see if the gap is correct. Check your sparkplug wires to see if they are cracked which could allow them to short out on metal engine parts. Check the distributor rotor for wear also. If the plugs need replacing it's quite possible that the plug wires need replacing as well. Use only name brand or dealer parts as the cheap discount stuff may cause the vehicle to run as badly as with the old worn stuff. Follow removal and installation instructions CAREFULLY. Rent a torque wrench if you don't have one to install the sparkplugs to be certain they aren't over tightened. Change your air filter if it's been in the car for more than about 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometres). If this doesn't help...it's time to visit the dealer.
