To add gear oil to a 1987 Suzuki Samurai's standard transmission, locate the fill plug on the transmission case, which is usually on the side. Use a socket wrench to remove the plug, then pour the appropriate gear oil (typically GL-4) into the fill hole until it reaches the bottom of the plug opening. Reinstall the plug securely after filling. Always consult your owner's manual for specific oil specifications and capacities.

For a Suzuki Samurai transmission, it is recommended to use API GL-4 gear oil, typically with a viscosity of 75W-90. Some owners also prefer using synthetic options for better performance and protection. Always check the owner’s manual for specific recommendations based on your model year and driving conditions.
your transmission is out. your transmission is out.
If your Suzuki Samurai's transmission won't go into reverse, it could be due to several issues. Common causes include low transmission fluid levels, a malfunctioning shift linkage, or internal transmission problems such as worn gears or a failing reverse gear. Additionally, issues with the clutch, if it's a manual transmission, may also prevent it from engaging reverse. A thorough inspection by a qualified mechanic is recommended to diagnose the exact issue.
