The throttle position sensor is kind of like the volume control on a radio. It is a device called a potentiometer. As the throttle opens and closes, the TPS also moves and send voltage readings to the car's computer telling it what position the throttle is in and the computer adjusts ignition timing and fuel in order to optimize your engine's performance. As with all electronic devices, sometimes the TPS wears out and sends bad voltage readings to the computer. When this happens the computer cannot properly adjust. What you end up with is a check engine light and a car that still drives fine but you will notice increased fuel usage and you may also notice minor performance problems like a slight bucking as you drive.
When Throttle Position sensor is bad when you step on pedal and it does not move, engine light is on!
The throttle position sensor is in the throttle body.
A bad throttle position sensor, on your 1991 Saturn, will cause the engine to run rough when it is idling. The engine will run normally at higher speeds.
The function of a throttle position sensor is to monitor the position of the throttle in an internal combustion engine.
The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body at the end of the throttle shaft.
The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle plate.
The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body on the opposite side of the cables.
The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body, opposite of where the cables attach.
The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body.
Generally speaking the throttle position sensor is on the throttle body.
The throttle position sensor is on the throttle body.
