The wiring on the back of your 2000 Pontiac alternator consists of a wiring harness. The wiring harness goes to a few relay switch is and regulators.
To change the alternator in a 2000 Toyota Solara, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Next, remove the serpentine belt by releasing the tension on the belt tensioner. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the mounting bolts securing the alternator, then lift it out. Install the new alternator by reversing the steps: secure it with bolts, reconnect the wiring, and reattach the serpentine belt before reconnecting the battery.
To replace the side mirror on a 2000 Toyota Solara, first, remove the door panel by unscrewing the screws and gently prying it off. Next, disconnect the wiring harness if the mirror is powered. In my case on a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, there were two bare wires in the wiring harness coming into the trunk lid. It was in the area where the wiring harness is clamped to the trunk (left side) just at the lip of the trunk recess. I wiggled that harness and got the dash trunk light to flash on & off. Peeling back the wiring harness cover at that point revealed the bare wires. Taped them off individually, and then retaping wiring harness at that point solved my problem.
