Unplugging the system from the fuse box should reset the display. If this doesn't help then reset the fuse in the fuse box.
check the fuse on the wires on your radio, there is a separate wire for the display lights that should be wired to your dash lights
If the dashboard dimmer switch works with the other dash lights, the fault is in the radio unit itself.
If it is working what needs to be fixed? Assume, the lack of display. Not sure but I think the radio has two separate fuses, one for the radio one for it's display, check the fuses I have had similar problem but not sure if it was with my Topaz
i just went to the acura dealer today to have my radio reset from the error code displayed after my radio was disconnected from the power. they looked inside the glove box on the side and found the five digit code that must be entered to reset the radio. otherwise you must remove the radio and look on the back for the serial number and then your acura dealer can find the five digit code in the computer system. (this was going to cost me $100 an hour for the acura labor charge!!) check your glove box. The code I have is 62612.....I hope that works for you
The backlight lightbulb inside the stereo for the display may be burned out ( best case ) or the display itself is bad ( worst case ). How would either senerio be fixed?
what about it//how do you get the radio numerals to show up on the display. on my car it is not clear and i can't tell what station is on playing. how do you fix this//

There is a solution to the problem at www.FixYourRadio.com . It does require you to be able to solder, or find someone that can solder, or learn to solder...the directions has pictures that will lead you through the repair (you can even learn to solder to make the repair yourself). This worked on my radio which was a Chrysler Intrepid 95 with the radio with the CD.
It's probably a bad connection. If you feel up to it, you could take the radio apart and re-seat the ribon cable that feeds the display assembly. Remove the radio, take the top plate off and you can replace the bulb for the display.

You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, I got them from Amazon for 16 bucks but you save a lot of time and you don't mess the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff.
