There are eight (8) planets in our solar system. Ceres is a dwarf planet, and was once considered to be a planet. It was called a planet for a longer period of time than Pluto. Eris is another dwarf planet, larger than Pluto. Sedna and possibly Quaoar are dwarf planets in our solar system.
Some versions of this question don't refer to our solar system, in which case we know of hundreds of planets, all larger than ours, orbiting other stars (well outside our solar system). We don't currently know whether any planets exist in other galaxies, but it is a safe assumption that they do, as well as that there are other planets our size around habitable stars within our own galaxy.
We understand a lot about our own solar system, and it is unlikely that any more major planets will be discovered here. There are countless Kuiper Belt objects and other regions rich with asteroids. Any large asteroids or Kuiper Belt objects that we find would probably be considered minor or dwarf planets, like Pluto.
However, other planets are being discovered all the time, orbiting around suns other than our own. These discoveries will continue, and may even multiply exponentially as we get better and better at exploring distant space. We have not yet found planets that show strong evidence of being able to support life as we know it here on earth.
As of 2017, it depends on whether you count major planets only, or all planets.
The 8 major known planets in order from the Sun are:
If you list ALL 13 known planets in order, including dwarf planets, they are:
Dwarf planets also fall under the category of minor planets, of which there are thousands in our solar system. As of 2017, the orbits of 734,274 minor planets were archived at the Minor Planet Center, 496,815 of which had received permanent numbers. The largest minor planet that is not considered to be a dwarf planet is Sedna.
There are loads of small planets in the kuiper belt that are known as dwarf planets.
Yes there are many however astronomers are still discovering and contemplating if these planet so called are actually planets, satellite's, stars or other.
yes there is other planets in other solar systems like i don't know if you heard about planet nirbu or planet x some of the planets in other solar systems come to our solar system.
No, there are currently 8 planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (In order). Funny how you phrased it "your solar system"
Yes. There are eight planets; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
that one over there -->
Saturn has more moons than any other planet in our solar system
jupiter
Venus rotates on its axis slower than any other planet.
There is more than one planet that has not tilt. The planets are Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter. The planet's also do not have seasons.
none of them have more than 1 moon
There's more than 1 PLANET.
Saturn has more moons than any other planet
The planet mars has more moons than he sun
no
Saturn has more moons than any other planet in our solar system
no planet has 16 moons
A star has more mass than a planet.
No. The moon is more of a sattelite than a planet.
Well no outer planet has only one moon they all either have more than 1 or none at all.
It would cost more than your
Saturn has more than eleven rings.
