This might be possible, but before we go to the enormous challenge and expense of doing that it would be much smarter to develop the ability to use the tremendous amount of solar energy that we already receive.
If the point is to overcome global warming, rest assured that we already have several effective and practical methods of dealing with it and reversing it that are far easier and cheaper. But even those are generally unpopular, and are widely resisted and maligned.
Pros: Space exploration allows us to discover new worlds, advance technology, and inspire future generations. It also contributes to scientific knowledge and understanding of the universe. Cons: Space exploration is expensive, potentially dangerous, and can divert resources from other important needs here on Earth. There are also ethical concerns about the commercialization and militarization of space.
The moon can be considered a distraction to people on Earth because it can influence our behavior through activities like moon-watching, astrology, or affecting our sleep patterns. Some argue that too much focus on lunar phenomena or superstitions might divert attention from more pressing issues on Earth. However, for many, the moon serves as a source of wonder, inspiration, and connection to the greater universe.
Advantage: Space exploration leads to technological advancements that benefit society, such as improving satellite communication and weather forecasting. It also increases our understanding of the universe and our place within it. Disadvantage: Space exploration is costly and can divert resources from pressing issues on Earth, such as poverty and healthcare. Additionally, there are risks to human life in space travel, and potential negative environmental impacts if we colonize other planets.
President Kennedy understood that some measure of competition / conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States was inevitable: the social and economic systems of the two blocs were so fundamentally opposed that actual peaceful co-existence was no better than a pipedream. Kennedy was also wise enough to understand that it was safer and more conducive to technological advance if the US compete with the USSR on who could get a man to the moon first, rather than have both countries continue with the Sabre rattling which had brought the world to the edge of destruction during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In committing the USA to putting a man on the moon before January 1, 1970 Kennedy was inviting the USSR into a game which it was unlikely to win (the USA had scientists who were at least as good, and technology which was better), but could not ignore (Communist régimes rely heavily on government propaganda - to just let the USA control space exploration would have been a disaster for the Kremlin). Kennedy was playing the USSR, forcing the Warsaw Pact countries to divert resources away from territorial expansion - where they might have given the USA a real headache (by extending the Communist sphere of influence in Berlin, for example) - to a technological race where they could barely keep-up (and even if they won, it would do no great harm). The other great beauty of the Space Race was that it was open ended. Even if the USA put the first man on the moon (which it eventually did), the new goal might then be to build a Space Station. If the USSR was building a Space Station they would have no funds to deploy in Vietnam or to occupy Afghanistan. Kennedy's ruse might have kept the USSR playing catch-up for the rest of the century. Sadly, after a few years of sanity following the assassination of Kennedy, the US electorate chose to elect a common swindler as its President. Then when the swindler was found out, they chose a cowboy from Brooklyn. The Space Race strategy was largely abandoned, freeing up the USSR to annex Afghanistan and give the US military the kicking of its life in Vietnam. The Brooklyn cowboy's only answer to America's plummeting reputation in the West was to mobilise Christian fundamentalist groups at home to prop up the waddling Republican cause - so you get Creation Science, 9/11, Abu Ghraib, Laura Schlessinger, and the collapse of the Western banking system. The Space Race was a clever idea, but in a democracy there is always the danger that you might be cleverer than the electorate can keep up with. As Lord George Brown once said: It is Democracy, sometimes it is going to demock.
Light is the only energy source that can travel without a medium, so as it travels through empty space there is nothing to divert it and if Newton's law of motion, an object in motion stays in motion, stands true then 100% of the light from the sun should reach the earth. When the light hits the earth most of it is deflected or absorbed by the atmosphere. +++ Whilst substantially true in itself the first sentence is not correct for 2 reasons. 1) The sun radiates its energy from its entire surface, therefore we receive only that from a small area of its surface. 2) Radiated energy from a point source - in astronomical scales the Sun's diameter is small compared to the distances - is attenuated by spreading as the surface of a sphere of increasing radius, so by an inverse-square law. (Area of a sphere's surface is proportional to radius squared.) Therefore the flux density reaching us nearly 149 million km from the Sun, will be 1/ 149-squared that of its density only 1 million km from the Sun. The mean solar energy flux at Earth's distance is 1370W/m^2, but that reaching the ground is far lower.
The past tense of divert is diverted.
The verb of diversion is divert. As in "to divert someone".
The base word of diversion is "divert."
Purchase a diverter. They install in the downspout and have a float so when the barrell is full the float diverts back to the splash block. Usually about 30 dollars.
Divert means to change something. A good sentence would be, the boy tried to divert the girl so that she would not get hurt.
I don't know what divert means but, well, I live in Colorado and... as far as I know, I don't divert my water...
Fabrice Divert was born on 1967-09-02.
Some design variants you may see in an optical telescope include telescopes that fold or divert the optical path with mirrors and telescopes that use special lenses to enhance the images.
To effectively divert rainwater from a metal roof using a rain diverter, you can install the diverter at the edge of the roof to collect and redirect the water into a designated area such as a rain barrel or a drainage system. This helps prevent water damage and erosion around your home.
The stressed syllable in "divert" is the first syllable "di-."
This canal will temporarily divert the flood waters away from the town.
