The last manned mission to the moon was Apollo 17
The crew members of Apollo 18 were fictional characters portrayed in a 2011 science fiction horror film. The movie depicts them being attacked by aliens on the moon. In reality, Apollo 17 was the final manned mission to the moon in 1972, and there was no Apollo 18 mission.
All members of the crew and it was no accident. Nasa effectively Marooned the Men in Space, as one was bitten by an Alien monster- and died, the other landing party man was held to be (Contaminated) they managed to take off from the Moon in the abandoned Russian ship- but were forbidden to dock with the Command Module. The Command module pilot- who never landed on the moon, was thus doomed to orbit the satellite until his life-support gear gave out and he died. so three men lost- in the story line.
There was no Apollo 18 (the movie is fiction). The last Apollo mission to fly to the moon was Apollo 17. The final flight of Apollo hardware was the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) flown in 1973, which never left Low Earth Orbit.
"Apollo 18" is a found footage horror film that imagines a secret 18th Apollo mission to the moon, where the crew encounters mysterious and deadly forces. The movie follows the astronauts as they uncover a Soviet lunar landing and face a malevolent presence on the moon.
The last Apollo mission was Apollo 17, which launched in December 1972. It was the final mission in NASA's Apollo program and the only one to include a geologist, Harrison Schmitt, among its crew. Apollo 17 successfully landed on the moon, allowing astronauts to conduct extensive exploration and scientific research.

kinnda, the Apollo missions did exist ( moon landing) and they ended at Apollo 17. they ended because they were VERY expensive and were risky. there was no Apollo 18 sadly. ( it would be fun to go to the moon again!)

Apollo 18 was the last mission to the moon due to budget constraints, shifting priorities within NASA towards space shuttle development, and waning public interest in the Apollo program. The decision to cancel the remaining Apollo missions was made in 1970.
As soon as NASA landed on the moon back in 1969, the general public started getting less and less interested in space exploration. The logic behind the thinking was that they have beaten the Russians to the moon, why continue to invest money into the program? Not long after the first moon landing of Apollo 11, congress started cutting at NASAs budget and cancelled Apollo 18-to 21. This is just a comment but they acually sent Apollo 18 to the moon and it never returned!

No. While it is possible and even likely that there will be future missions to the moon, they will not be Apollo missions.
No, "Apollo 18" is not based on a true story. It is a work of fiction presented in a found footage style horror film centered on a fictional Apollo 18 mission to the moon.
The last moon mission of the Apollo program was Apollo 17, which launched on December 7, 1972, and returned to Earth on December 19, 1972. This mission marked the sixth and final time humans have landed on the moon.
