Yes, two viking landers went on mars and were supposed to find out if there was life on mars. Scientists were arguing about the results. Many scientists think that the experiments showed that there is no life on mars, but think about it when earth had a ice age for millions of years that might of been when the other planets were having life when our planet was frozen. Except venus and Mercury are both too hot.

There are lots of robots, but they are specialized for a particular function, usually on an assembly line. We do not have the kind of robots that Isaac Asimov used to write about, who resemble human beings and have the full range of human abilities. We are a long way from being able to build that kind of robot.
