This was likely discovered by the ancients, somewhat forgotten in the middle ages and rediscovered during the Scientific Revolution.
Essentially since Ancient times man has been curious about the apparent movement of the Sun, Moon, and various stars across the sky, as well as the progression of the seasons.
With the idea that the earth was spherical (an idea that had been discovered by the Greeks, Romans and Mayans), one explanation was that the earth was fixed in the center of the universe and the earth, moon, and stars revolved around the earth.
The closest planets appear in the night sky as stars. But, their movement is different than the stars, and the ancients were able to identify all of the closest planets to earth, even without the help of telescopes.
By observing the movement of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in the night sky, they were able to determine that their positions were best described by orbits around the sun rather than orbits around the earth. This coupled with the observations of the angle of the sun in the sky and progression of the seasons would also lead one to conclude that the earth also orbited around the sun at the rate of one revolution per year.
Once one concludes that the earth and all the planets in our solar system orbits around the sun, and the earth's orbital period is once a year, then one can conclude that the earth must rotate for the days to exist.
The first person to orbit the Earth was the Soviet cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin.
First of all to correct your spelling. 'Imiginary' should be 'IMAGINARY'. and 'Witch' should be 'which' There is no such word as 'imiginary' in the English language. 'Witch' is a 'female sorceress'. Please remember to correct your spelling in future. Two answer your question ; The imaginary line is the AXIS'. on the surface of the Earth it is the two poles (North and South Poles). The Earth rotates ONCE in every 24 hours.
The first person to orbit the Earth was Yuri Gagarin, a Russian cosmonaut. He accomplished this on April 12, 1961, aboard the spacecraft Vostok 1.
The first person to orbit the Earth was Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet astronaut, on April 12, 1961. He completed one orbit around Earth in the Vostok 1 spacecraft.

The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras is credited with being the first person to suggest that the Earth is a sphere and that it rotates around its axis.

That time is called sunrise. It marks the beginning of the day when the sun's rays first appear over the horizon, illuminating the Earth as it rotates.

The first person to orbit the earth was astronaut, John Glenn...
Well this is the misconception most of the people have. In the first place as far as rotation of earth is concerned, earth is no different from clouds. When you say earth rotates, it includes the atmosphere(the gaseous layer which surrounds it) as well. So as a whole earth along with the gaseous layer around it rotates, thus effectively there is no relative motion between earth and clouds due to the rotation of earth. It was Adam, he was the first person on Earth!
When the side of the Earth first rotates into view of the Sun, this time of day is commonly referred to as "sunrise." It marks the beginning of daylight as the Sun appears to rise above the horizon, illuminating the landscape.
