In a microgravity environment, using the toilet can be a serious problem. Current toilets use air flow to help solid & liquid wastes go where they're supposed to. This doesn't always work.
Before the shuttle era, going to the bathroom in space meant tubes, and plastic bags. If the current space toilet ever malfunctions, you can bet that there are more bags on the space station to be used in case of emergency.
by going in space!!
The space shuttle toilet was developed by NASA with input from engineers and astronauts. It was designed to accommodate the unique challenges of zero gravity and limited space in a spacecraft. The first space shuttle toilet was used on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1981.
Neil Armstrong used a special zero-gravity toilet that had a seatbelt and thigh straps to keep him in place. The waste was suctioned away using airflow. This system allowed astronauts to urinate and defecate in space without creating a mess.
The cost of a space station toilet can vary, but it typically ranges from several million to tens of millions of dollars. This high cost is due to the unique engineering required to design a toilet that works in the microgravity environment of space and meets strict safety and efficiency standards.
The space shuttles and ISS have special toilets for astronauts to use the restroom. The astronauts must be strapped to the toilet because of 0 gravity. When they are finished the feces are flushed out into the vacuum of space.
get a bucket
i do not no
You will pee/poop in your underwear
