Of the seven Apollo manned missions to the Moon (1969 to 1972), six landed and returned successfully. The seventh, Apollo 13, had a major problem that meant they could not land, and they used their mission resources to survive and return to Earth. NASA lost one crew (three astronauts) in a ground testing fire in 1967.
