The amount of daylight in a "24-hour" day actually varies due to a combination of the Earth's elliptical orbit around the sun and the tilt of the Earth's axis. The further north or south you are from the equator, the more variation you will see in the amount of sunlight you get in the winter and summer. For example, the year 2009 in Nome, Alaska (165 degrees West, 64 degrees North) there were 3 hours 53 minutes of daylight on December 21 and on and June 21, 21 hours 30 minutes of daylight; a difference of nearly 18 hours . Miami, Florida (80 degrees West, 25 degrees North) on those same days had 10 hours 32 minutes and 13 hours 43 minutes respectively; a difference of only about 3 hours.

Earth's period of revolution is 8766.15 hours How many times does earth rotate during one revolution around the sun?

Earth rotates once every 24 hours. If you divide 8766.15 by 24, you get pretty close to the number of days in a year. __________ Not quite. 24 hours is the average synodic period of earth, not the rotational (sidereal) period. Earth rotates once every 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds roughly. This turns out to be about 23.93 hours. The orbital period of earth is 8766.152784 hours roughly.
