How much longer will the sun exist for?

The newly created helium particle is about 7% less massive than the hydrogen used to create it, and the excess is what generates the heat and light essential to life on Earth. When this happens, it will start to convert helium into heavier elements, expanding in the process to become a Red Giant. After this it will collapse in on itself to quickly (in astronomical terms) end it's existence as a White Dwarf. A trillion years after this, it will have totally lost all remaining heat, and be as cold as deepest space.
