It depends how much part of earth is in between sun and moon blocking sun's light as the moon is a sphere and earth's shadow causes it to look like being changing its shape.

Is there actually a dark side of the moon?

No, there is not. There is a far side, but it gets just as much light as the near side.

When in August is mars as big as the moon?

Mars never gets much larger than an orange coloured point of light

Why does the moon reflected so much light?

The moon reflects so much light because the moon reflect the light of the sun. The amount of light on the moon that is showing is directly related to the position to the moon. (From Answers.com)

How much more light does the sun provide then the full moon?

The sun provides about 400,000 times more light than the full moon. This vast difference in brightness is due to the sun being a powerful star that emits its own light, while the moon only reflects light from the sun.

Why is the light of the moon not as hot as the sun's light?

The moon does not radiate any heat or light of its own, it merely reflects the sun's heat and light. But since the moon is many times smaller than the sun, it only receives a small fraction of the heat and light -- and much less when it is in the shadow of the earth. However, most of the heat and light striking the moon is absorbed by the moon itself, or is reflected into space, thus there's very little reflected back to earth.

Why does the Moon's appearance keep changing?

because the light on the moon is reflected by the earth so when the earth is not facing on the moon there is not that much light

How a full moon produces so much light at night?

The moon doesn't produce any light. The moon reflects light from the sun. As the earths shadow moves across the surface of the moon to show more surface of the moon is call Waxing means there is more reflective properties to reflect the sunlight which makes the moon appear to be brighter. As the moon gets smaller or waning less light gets reflected hense it appears darker. Has nothing to do with the supernatural or occult and everything to do with common sense and logic.

What is the difference between light from the sun and light from the moon?

The sun produces its own light when it transforms hydrogen into helium. The moon gets its light from the sun. It doesn't produce light. The brightness that we see on the moon is a reflection of the sunlight.

Why do you have solar or lunar eclipses?

When the moon comes in between earth and the sun we witness solar eclipse. Though much smaller than the sun, the moon is much closer to earth so, it can cover the whole sun (from our view). The moon has no light of its own. It only reflects the light it gets from the sun. But, when earth comes in between the sun and the moon the shadow (umbra) of earth covers the moon completely. That's what we call lunar eclipse.

How much brighter is the sun compared to the moon?

The sun is about 400,000 times brighter than the full moon. This difference is due to the sun's proximity to the Earth and its powerful energy output compared to the moon, which merely reflects sunlight.
