NASA seletcs astronauts every 2 years. which is usaly an odd year.
NASA plans to send astronauts to the moon as part of its Artemis program in order to establish a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface. This will serve as a stepping stone for further exploration of Mars and beyond, and also to conduct scientific research, test new technologies, and inspire the next generation of space explorers.
There are currently about 240 astronauts across various space agencies worldwide, including NASA, ESA, Roscosmos, and others. The exact number can vary due to new selections, retirements, and international collaborations in space missions.
He became an astronaut in October 1963.October 1963, part of the "New 14", or third group of astronauts.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin met while both were working at NASA's astronaut program in the early 1960s. They were both selected as part of the same group of astronauts, known as the "New Nine," and trained together for their historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
The Canadian Space Agency hires new astronauts approximately every few years, depending on their needs and upcoming missions. The selection process is rigorous, with stringent requirements for experience, skills, and qualifications.

There are no astronauts on board New Horizons. New Horizons is an unmanned spacecraft that was launched by NASA to explore the dwarf planet Pluto and its moons. It completed its flyby of Pluto in July 2015. It collected valuable data and images of the distant world before continuing its journey into the Kuiper Belt.
The most skilled and experienced employees are often selected as supervisors.

The NASA project following Project Mercury was called Project Gemini. It served as a bridge between Mercury and Apollo, testing new technologies and techniques needed for the later moon-landing missions.
NASA retired its space shuttle program in 2011. They now rely on commercial partners like SpaceX to transport astronauts and supplies to the International Space Station. NASA is shifting its focus to developing new spacecraft and technologies for deep space exploration.
NASA has launched the Kepler mission to search for new planets.
NASA is planning to send humans back to the Moon through the Artemis program, with the goal of establishing a sustainable presence by 2024. They are also working on developing new technologies for robotic exploration of Mars and beyond, with the long-term goal of sending astronauts to Mars.
2020 they want to send astronauts to the moon. Before that they are sending robots to the moon. NASA wants too have a moon base by 2024 so astronauts could stay there for as long as 6 months. They hope routine missions will happen some where around 2050 are even before. Right now they are finding new ways to survive on the moon. Finding ways to be self sufficient instead relying on earth to give the moon base resources. They have thought of several ways to to produce air. But they also need to have water and food. Well we have found ice on the moon and recently found more then we new about. So that looks good gradation will be a problem but where finding ways to solve that to. After the moon the next step will most likely be Mars. Space travel needs money and good technology. So if we invest more money in space travel we will get more space travel and if NASA finds better and finds cheaper ways to build spacecrafts will have more space travel to.
