yes. It seems from the latest experiments plants to do not rely on gravity as much as was previously believed. see news. national geographic .com/ news/ 2012/ 121207- plants-grow-space-station-science/
If there were no plants, the atmosphere would undergo significant changes. Without photosynthesis, which plants use to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, levels of carbon dioxide would rise while oxygen levels would decline. This would lead to increased greenhouse gas effects, contributing to climate change, and could result in a less breathable environment for most aerobic organisms. Ultimately, the absence of plants would disrupt ecosystems and diminish biodiversity.
I think the question was in reference to the ability to grow plants in a controlled environment. And the answer would be yes. Using hydroponics systems we could do this. Without a controlled environment we would not be able to grow plants.
Plants that are compact, resilient, and able to thrive in low light conditions would be well-suited for Mars. Examples include succulents, snake plants, or pothos. It's also important to consider plants that can contribute to air purification and oxygen production in a closed environment.
Plants would require a controlled environment with sufficient light, temperature, humidity, and air circulation. They would also need access to nutrients through a hydroponic or aeroponic system, as well as a way to manage water and waste recycling within the limited space of the station.
there would be no water for the plants
They cant, if the did they planet would fall apart, zero-gravity doesnt exist.
Because the environment needs plants and plants need the environment. If the environment lost all plants, it would't exist. It would die,and so would we (Trees count as gardens, I think).
There isn't a zero gravity environment, but if there was, planets wouldn't form. Planets form by very large rock all attracting to each other and gain enough energy that the center pulls the surrounding rock and smooths then into a sphere. So if a zero gravity environment existed. There would be no planets.
because without the environment we would die. the plants give us oxygen to live.
If plants and trees were placed in a de-oxygenated environment, the plant would die!
Looks like you are trying to cheat in your World History class. heh heh.......One reason would be because of the different environments; each would have it's own plants , wildlife, weather,etc...andeach would develop language to describe their particular home...and, if one traveled, they would learnnew language particular to he new elevation/ environment. Customs, the same. People would develop customs that would be unique to their unique environment.
Spider plants cannot thrive in an ocean environment because they are terrestrial plants that require soil to grow. They would not be able to survive in the salty water of the ocean.
If there were no plants, the animal population would be drastically changed. The herbivores would die and soon after so would carnivores. Only the decmoposers would be left. That's how important plants are to an environment.
Some examples of plants that do not have chlorophyll but live in the environment are Indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora) and dodder (Cuscuta spp.). These plants are parasitic and obtain nutrients from other plants instead of through photosynthesis.
Moist environments.
It would remain the same.
Flowers and plants would not be pollenated and they would die.
