They both rotate about the center of mass of the Earth Sun System. This center of mass is located inside of the sun but is not the exact center of the sun. As the sun revolves about this point inside itself this causes the sun to wobble slightly. This wobble is how we are able to locate extrasolar planets.

You haven't said what exactly Mars may be inside or outside of; certainly it is inside our solar system. It is farther from the sun than the planet Earth and therefore it could be described as being outside the Earth's orbit. Comment: Mars is called an "inner planet", of course. Perhaps that helps.
if you think about it, it's in the name sun. They need to grow outside to get to the sun. but you can grow them inside to.just put them by a window that has alot of sun
