Darwin 4 is a fictional planet which was shown on a mini series called 'Alien planet', based on the book 'the expedition' and aired on discovery channel, is the same as Earth, which is in orbit within a binary stellar system. the story goes by when a few millions years ago, the planet had a major climate change which altered the evolutionary pathway for its inhabitants. where the planet was covered with a global ocean, now its an alomost desert planet, where one large lake still survives, which mainly consists of an ameobic environment. tectonic activity still occurs, and its atmosphere is rich in water vapour. the inhabitants are mainly bipedal, which the majority lost their sight and developed sonar vision or echo location. predators are liquivours while some herbivore are autotrophic, like plants on earth, visible organisms come in various sizes, from antelope sized to giants 3 to seven storeys high. plants on Darwin are similar to earth's but with smaller leaves, while the fungi are large electrically deadly. A sapient species also occurs, but nothing like human. on the mission, two whale sized probes, intelligent as futuristic space mission robots, named Ike and and Leo, visit the planet within 42 years from when the documentary was aired. both probes were designed to fly through the atmosphere of Darwin 4, where Leo observed the fauna, and Ike observed the flora. their demise arrives when both of them encounter the sapient species. for more info click on this link or type http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_Planet
