Terrestrial Planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are the "Inner" planets (as they are inside the asteroid belt), but are also called the terrestrial planets, as they are primarily composed of rock and metal.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are all inner planets.

All of the planets you listed are called "terrestrial" planets because they have solid a surface. The other planets are call 'gas giants' because they are mostly combinations of gasses rather than having solid ground under their clouds.

Because of their composition. Those planets with dwarf planet Ceres are composed primarily of rock. Where as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are gas giants. Also dwarf planets Pluto, Makemake, Haumea, and Eris are called "ice dwarfs".
