What is the Moon?
By:Clara Lui
Inspired By: Wes Magee
the Moon is a big banana
sometimes shaped perfectly curved
it's a bowl of milk
when it reflects in the water
the moon is a huge wolf magnet
that attracts wolves during the night
It is a huge light bulb
that shines so you can see at night
the moon is a huge chunk of cheese
it's pearl white and has holes
(This poem was written by my friend. She goes to East Middle School in Braintree. She just turned twelve in November. This was a poem she had to present to her English class. She has the exact amount of syllables for each line from the poem "What is the Sun?" By: Wes Magee....... Thanks for reading this! I hope this helped you guys!)

The phrase "the moon is a balloon" is an example of a direct metaphor. A direct metaphor is a direct comparison of two things.
The moon was a golden coin in the untouchable treasure chest of the sky is an example of a metaphor.
This is an example of personification, as it gives human traits to the moon by suggesting that it is painting the black water. Metaphor would involve direct comparison without using "like" or "as".

This is an example of an alliteration 'moon made'. For it to be a metaphor it would have to follow this sort of structure, 'the moon was a torch in the sky'. Hope this helped.
The sentence "I am a rock" is an example of a metaphor. It is comparing the speaker to a rock to convey strength, resilience, and emotional detachment.

An inverted metaphor is a figure of speech where the subject and the things compared to it are reversed. For example, saying "The sun is a black hole of happiness" is an inverted metaphor because the sun (the subject) is being compared to a black hole (the metaphor).

A metaphor is a flower. A simile is like (or as) a flower. Both metaphor and simile compare one thing to another. The difference is that a simile uses the words 'like' or 'as', and metaphor doesn't. Metaphor: Life is a fountain. Simile: Life is like a fountain.
The moon was a silver dollar is definitely a metaphor. Remember that for something to be a simile it must be preceded by like or as.

Here's one example: I am prayer (Psalms 109:4).
