Pantaleon del Rosario lived in Imus, Cavite and descended from a Scotman or Englishman named Stuart and connected on his mother's side to General Emilio Aguinaldo. Del Rosario was a colonel of the 2nd division of the Cebu Revolutionary Center and he fought Americans who were stationed in the province, and routed the well-equipped U.S. army in the hills of Buhisan. Sometime in 1899, he came to Cebu by order of the president Emilio Aguinaldo, but before that, he had obtained his early education in Ateneo de Manila. In October 1901, he joined the other leaders of the Republic in the mass surrender to the Americans which brought the war in Cebu formally to an end. He died at the early age of 54 on November 30, 1930 leaving behind a family that has remained prominent to this day. Ordinance No. 1467 has named a street in honor of Pantaleon del Rosario. It is on this street where you will find the University of San Carlos, the oldest university in the Philippines. Also, according to stories within our family, I am his great-great granddaughter by the way, he died of appendicitis.
