No. The U S did go to the moon. Regardless of other beliefs, there is proof that the landing on the moon wasn't fake.

The Apollos were watched, listened to, and tracked by people all over the world, both to and from the Moon, both friendly and unfriendly nations. it would be more than a little obvious if they just stayed in Earth orbit, as the antennas have to move to track the flight, and there is a lot of difference in the tracking needed to follow a spaceship taking 3 days to go to the Moon, and one taking 90 minutes to go around in circles! The Van Allen belt would only have killed the astronauts if they had stayed in the thick of them for a month, so they just shot on through in an hour or so, through the weakest, thinnest part. All told, none of the astronauts took even one percent of a lethal dose, as most radiation up there is particle radiation, which was stopped cold by their hull, thin as it was. In fact, a few sheets of newspaper would have done just as well... particle radiation is pretty puny.

The technology needed to fake the pictures, footage, and especially the samples, does not exist TODAY, let alone back then. You should see the lame special effects of Kubrick and Gerry Anderson, world's best Special Effects man of the time! The USSR, in the act of tracking their own lunar probe, could not possibly have failed to notice if Apollo 11 hadn't shown up on their screens and radios! Scientists all over the world have analyzed the Moon rocks. Not one has seen anything that would make it look like a hoax, and no scientist in the world has ever managed to duplicate a moon rock.
