i think u mean 'describe' but anyway.... Maria (plural of MARE) are dark, lowland plains formed on the moon's surface. Early astronomers, thinking that these were bodies of water, gave them names of appropriate for lunar seas.

There is no such thing. The cliche or phrase is "the man in the moon," and refers to the perceived face on the surface of the moon as seen from Earth.
