The 4 types of galaxies are spiral, barred spiral, elliptical and irregular.

1. Spiral galaxy is easiest to identify due to its spiral structure and has its dust and gas scattered out evenly. Two good examples are the Milky Way Galaxy and Andromeda Galaxy.

2. Barred Spiral looks somewhat like a spiral galaxy, but in the first stages. Rather than having the same look as the spiral galaxy, the gas and dust in a barred galaxy are compressed near the center, with unevenness of the gas and dust, even though it still forms somewhat of a spiral.

3. Elliptical Galaxies are one of the largest galaxies with billions of solar systems clustered to appear as one star. With dust and gas scattered throughout, these galaxies appear to be a round shape and tend to hardly contain interstellar matter.

4. Irregular galaxy is also easy to identify because it is poorly structured and are even sometimes called dwarf irregular galaxies.

Do galaxies all have the same shape?

Galaxies may have any of four general shapes. Elliptical galaxies show little or no structure and vary in general shape from moderately flat and round or oval to spherical. Spiral galaxies have a small, bright central region, or nucleus, and arms that come out of the nucleus and wind around, trailing off like a giant pinwheel. In barred spiral galaxies, the arms extend sideways in a short straight line before turning off into the spiral shape. Both kinds of spiral systems are flat. Irregular galaxies are usually rather small and do not have a symmetrical shape.

What is the possessive form of galaxies?

The possessive form for the plural noun galaxies is galaxies'.Example: Their galaxies' paths do not coordinate.

What are galaxies classified as?

Galaxies are classified based on their shape and structure. The main types of galaxies are spiral, elliptical, and irregular. Spiral galaxies have distinct arms of stars, elliptical galaxies are more oval-shaped with older stars, and irregular galaxies have a less defined shape.

What are the three types of galaxies and what are there and shape?

The three main types of galaxies are spiral galaxies (disk-shaped with a central bulge and spiral arms), elliptical galaxies (smooth and oval-shaped without spiral arms), and irregular galaxies (lack a distinct shape).

Different kinds of galaxes?

There are three main types of galaxies: spiral galaxies (like the Milky Way), elliptical galaxies (oval or spherical in shape), and irregular galaxies (lacking a distinct shape). These classifications are based on the galaxies' shapes and structures.
