April 18 1976 was a Sunday, is not correct.

I'm not sure exactly what day of the week it was, but I'm positive that it was not a Sunday because I checked the date to match it up with a $2.00 bill that was issued on that day and in order to prove that it was issued on that day, the bill had to have a 13 cent stamp placed on it, which was what we were using back then, and be postmarked at the post office. The media said that the bills would be collectable, providing that they were post marked with a stamp and the date. So that's how I know that it didn't occur on a Sunday. I don't know of a post office that is open on a Sunday.

I was checking the date because I have forgotten over the years, what was so special about these $2 dollar bills. I think that they were newly issued for some reason and had never been in circulation. Other bills were being destroyed. I'm just not positive of the reason for doing it anymore, but I am positive that it was not on a Sunday. Hope that this has been helpful to some.

If anyone can tell me about the $2 bills, I would appreciate it very much.

My apologies to Gaines Fox. I just rechecked the date on my bill and what

was, I now believe, to be a 3 was changed by the postmark to look like an 8, changing the date from the 13th to the 18th which would probably be a Sunday. kudos
