He later commanded the Apollo 14 mission, and was the fifth person to walk on the moon in February 1971 Alan Shepherd (September 28, 1935 - July 16, 2007) was a British former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. His best seasons were in 1962 and 1963, when he rode a Matchless to finish in second place in the 500cc world championship
