Zeus, sent Pandora down to earth as a punishment to men. He gave her a jar (or an amphora; not a box!) and told her not to open it. Out of curiosity she opened it and the jar released sorrow, anger, and all negative emotions into the world. However, suprisingly it also released hope.
In Greek mythology, Zeus did not make Pandora himself. Pandora was created by the gods Hephaestus and Athena, who endowed her with beauty and talents. Zeus then gave her a jar (not a box) as a wedding gift, which ultimately brought misfortune to the world when she opened it.
Hercules is one of Zeus' most famous sons in Greek mythology.
He warned her to never open.
Zeus sent the gods Hephaestus and Athena to create Pandora, the first woman, as a punishment to humanity for receiving the gift of fire from Prometheus. Hephaestus sculpted her out of clay, and Athena breathed life into her, endowing her with beauty and charm.
Zeus knew that Pandora was going to open the box which held all the bad things in the world. Zeus gave her that gift to get revenge on all humans because he was still mad that Prometheus stole fire from him to give tothe humans.
