In "Dragonwings" by Laurence Yep, Moon Shadow has a complex relationship with his father, Windrider. Initially, he admires Windrider for his dreams and aspirations, particularly his desire to fly. However, Moon Shadow also feels the weight of his father's struggles and the cultural challenges they face as Chinese immigrants in America. Ultimately, he learns to appreciate his father's resilience and determination, deepening their bond as they pursue their shared dream of building a flying machine.
Icarus is not a God. He was a mortal, who along with his father, tried to escape from Crete with the use of Wax wings. Icarus flew to close to the sun, and his wings melted, I believe. He fell to his death.
In Ovid's story of Daedalus and Icarus, Icarus's wings fall off because he flies too close to the sun, ignoring his father's warnings. The heat from the sun melts the wax that holds his wings together, causing them to disintegrate. As a result, Icarus plummets into the sea, illustrating the consequences of hubris and disregard for limits.
The figure who famously had wax wings that melted when he flew too close to the sun is Icarus, a character from Greek mythology. He was the son of Daedalus, an inventor who created the wings for them to escape from Crete. Ignoring his father's warning to fly at a moderate height, Icarus flew too high, causing the sun to melt the wax holding his wings together, leading to his fall into the sea. This myth serves as a cautionary tale about hubris and the dangers of overreaching.
why did armstrong say the eagle has wings
Icarus, in Greek mythology, died when he flew too close to the sun with wings made of feathers and wax crafted by his father Daedalus. The heat melted the wax holding the wings together, causing Icarus to fall to his death in the sea.

A dragon
In the book "Dragonwings" by Laurence Yep, Moon Shadow's father, Windrider, goes to America in search of a new life and to realize his dream of building and flying a flying machine. He wants to escape the limited opportunities and social restrictions in China and hopes to achieve success in America.
Moon shadow was eight years old when he sailed from China to join his father, Windrider, in America. For years, Windrider had lived in San Francisco and made his living doing laundry. Father and son had never met. But over time, Moon Shadow grows to love and respect his father and to believe in his wonderful dream. And Windrider, with Moon Shadow's help, is willing to endure the mockery of the other Chinese, the poverty, the separation from his wife and country---even the great earhtquake---to make his dream come true.
The trouble black dog gets into with dragon wings could include mistaken identity, as the dragon wings might make others think the dog is a mythical creature or a threat. Additionally, the wings could get tangled or caught in objects, causing mishaps or accidents. The dog might also struggle to navigate or fly with the wings, leading to humorous situations.
A scaled dragon with wings would be a drakon in Greek mythology.
