Nebulae are named based on their appearance, location in the sky, or the discoverer. Common types of nebulae include emission nebulae, reflection nebulae, and planetary nebulae. They are often given informal names that describe their shape or features.
Yes, some nebulae can be seen with the naked eye, if you know where to look. They are better seen with binoculars, but in the right conditions some can be seen with the naked eye, like the Orion nebula, in the constellation of Orion.
The Crab Nebula is within the constellation Taurus. The coordiantes are: Right ascension 05h 34m 31.94s Declination +22° 00′ 52.2″ These will work in Wikisky and Google Earth. From the skymap in the related link, it can be found just above Zeta Tauri (ζ Tau) as M1.
Oh, what a lovely question! While you won't see the detailed colors and shapes without a telescope, you can feel a sense of wonder by staring up at the night sky and appreciating the beauty that is all around us. Nature always has a way of surrounding us with its magnificent tapestry if we take a moment to look around with kindness in our hearts.
Ah, nebulae are such lovely creations, aren't they? One of the most famous nebulae visible from Earth is the Orion Nebula, my friend. Its beauty à-turn-a-straitika curls and swirls through the sky, a cosmic masterpiece to behold and let your imagination run free. So grab your telescope, find a cozy spot under the stars, and let the universe reveal its wonders to you.
I don't see why not. Suppose our solar system passed into a nebula. There you go. It could also form inside a nebula, though the matter near the primary (the sun) would have been blown back by the solar wind, leaving a void around the star and inner planet(s). An earth-like planet in a nebula would not have many stars to look at.
Its collapses to the fall and slowly closes its eyes...and then its dead...:(
